Baked Flatbread With Garlic (Lahsooni Naan) Recipe
Ingredients:
4 c of unbleached flour (all-purpose)
1 tsp cream-of-tartar
1/2 c of water
2 tsps of baking soda
1 c of soymilk
1/4 c of oil (olive)
1/4 tsp of seasalt
1 Tbsp of egg substitute
2 Tbsps of oil (Canola)
2 cloves garlic; minced
Instructions:
Combine salt, soda, cream-of-tartar and flour. Set this dry mixture aside. You whisk together the egg substitute and water.
Combine egg-water mix, canola and soymilk in mixing bowl. Then you add the dry mixture in, stirring well ’til dough turns into smooth ball.
Briefly knead then transfer into oiled bowl. Have it covered w/ a dampened towel. Allow the dough to rest in draft-free, warm place for about 2 & 1/2-3 hrs.
Preheat the oven into four hundred degrees Fahrenheit. Grease bake sheets. You saute the garlic for about 2 mins in oil then set it aside.
Have your hands coated lightly w/ veggie oil then knead the dough in floured working surface for 3 mins ’til smooth. Divide this into twelve equal portion then have each piece rolled into small balls.
Flatten every ball w/ your hands into 3/8-inch thick oval-shape. Taper the ends in order to have teardrop figures. Arrange on bake sheets then brush w/ oil. Place sheets on middle-rack then bake for 6-8 mins.
