Biryani Rice Recipe 2
Ingredients:
3/4 c long grained rice (basmati)
1.5 c water (take away 2 Tbsps from this)
1 tsp of oil
Salt (to taste)
1/2 lb of chicken; slice to small-sized bits
3 Tbsps of oil (vegetable)
1 large-sized onion; minced
1/2 tsp ginger (paste)
1/c tsp garlic (paste)
1 tsp cumin; ground
1 tsp coriander; ground
1/2 powdered turmeric
2 garlic cloves
A bay leaf; crumble
Pinch of cinnamon
2 pcs cardamoms
1/4 tsp saffron
1 small-sized tomato; cut in 4
1 small-sized potato; peel and quarter
3 Tbsps yogurt (plain)
Instruction:
Wash the rice, pour into a small-sized saucepan, add water then put the other ingredients in.
Cover then turn on heat to high and bring mixture to boil, then simmer til water becomes fully absorbed. Set it aside without the cover to cool.
Inside a saucepan over medium heat, saute onions (til golden brown) then add ginger and garlic.
Stir chicken cuts in and the other ingredients (excluding saffron) and stir occasionally or half an hour til sauce thickens.
Stir in 1/2 of the rice evenly spreading with chicken mix, then add oil and saffron (mixed with milk). Pour remainder of rice on top then simmer for about 10 minutes more.
Serve with yogurt (whipped and lightly sweetened).
