Cabbage Potatoes & Peas Molagootal Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 c of mung dal
A bunch of peas (frozen)
1/2 of a small head of cabbage; finely chopped
1 large-sized potato; dice
1 tsp powdered sambar
1 tsp of turmeric (to taste)
Dash of salt (to taste)
1 coconut; meat shredded, soak in water
Mustard
Urad dal
red chili
Curry leaves
Oil
Instruction:
Mix dal with two cups of water. Dash with turmeric. Pour in cabbage when your dal is almost done then add a bit more of water. Sprinkle with powdered sambar then salt.
Put on pan cover then let simmer for ten to fifteen minutes. Add coconut then remove pan from stove and add seasonings.
As a variation, you can also use spinach (keerai) instead of cabbage. You may also add roasted chilies (red) with the coconut, a bit of cumin and urad dal.
