Balfa With Dal Recipe
Ingredients:
2 c of whole-wheat flour (225 grams)
225 grams of mung-split
1.25 Liters of moong-dal water
2 onions (medium); chopped
1 tsp of turmeric powder
2 bayleaves
Salt
2 chilies (green)
1 tsp of sugar
4 Tbsps of ghee
2 sticks of cinnamon (2-inch each)
3 Tbsps of oil
2 Tbsps of fresh coriander; chopped
Chopped cilantro
Instructions:
Put mung-split into thick pan w/ water over high-heat. Add one-half onions, sugar, salt, chilies, bayleaves and cinnamon. Sift the flour together w/ salt then add the ghee.
Knead into a smoothened dough then have it divided into ten equal parts. Shape these portion into balls. You drop them slowly into boiled dai then reduce the heat.
You cook them for about 25 mins and remove these floured balls one-by-one. Place cooked balls into greased bake dish.
You bake them at 375 degrees F ’til the balls’ skins starts cracking and its colour turn into light-brown. Transfer into glass dish then press them individually in center w/ your cleaned thumb.
Lightly break then put 1-2 tsp of ghee in every bafla. Heat three tablespoon of oil. Fry the remaining onions ’til light-brown. Pour in dal that was cooked, stirring well. Boil for 2 to 3 times.
Once done, remove them from the heat then sprinkle w/ coriander. You serve your baflas w/ dal.
