Indian Soup Recipe
Ingredients:
3 c of water
1/2 tsp of salt
1 c of lentils (red)
1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
1 tsp of sugar
1 c of thinly sliced onions
2 Tbsps of oil (vegetable)
2 pcs of bay leaf
2 pcs of chilies (red and dried)
1/2 tsp of kalonji (seeds)
1 tsp of chili (green); minced
2 Tbsps of lemon juice
1 tsp of garam masala
1 Tbsp of chopped cilantro
Instruction:
Wash dal (lentils) well and strain. Add dal to boiling water then season with turmeric. Cover then simmer mix for fifteen minutes.
Puree cooked lentils inside a processor til it becomes smooth, and put back in pan then keep it hot.
Heat the oil (ghee) the fry in bay leaves and chilies (red) til browned. Add the kalonji (seeds) then onions (thinly sliced). Cook fifteen to eighteen minute making sure not to overcook the spices.
Add chili (green) then top the cooked lentils with mixture. Simmer the mix for two to three minutes more. Take off from heat then sprinkle garam masala, squeezed juice from lemon then cilantro.
