Indian Vegetarian Recipe
Ingredients:
2 c of flour (whole wheat)
1 can of ghee
For Filling:
4 pcs. of medium-sized potatoes
1 tsp. of chopped coriander leaves
1 pc. of small-sized onion; minced
Salt & pepper
Instructions:
Sift salt with flour. Gently add some water, mixing well to make thickened dough. Then cover it with cloth (preferably damp) for about 20 min. Boil, peel & mash.
Mix in onion, coriander, salt and pepper. Divide this into eight portions. Then knead the dough ’til pliable and smooth. Next, divide it into six balls. Slightly flatten out every one.
Put filling (one portion) in center and then close completely. Next, shape them into rounded balls once again. On the floured flat board, roll ball into disk 6 inches in diameter.
This is cooked one by one on griddle with temperate heat. Around its edges, add about 1-2 tablespoons of ghee. Gently turn, cooking ’til the sides will turn gold-brown. Serve along with some yogurt.
Kheema Roti (Vegetarian): Use seasoned and cooked meat that is minced instead. This serves 6.
