Katirikkai Thogyal Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pc of eggplant (bhima)
1 pc of hing
3 pcs of red chili
1/2 Tbsp of tamarind paste
2 tsp of Urad Dal
1 can of oil
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
Nicely wrap eggplant using foil then keep it inside oven at 400 degrees F for around 45 min. or ’til it becomes soft. Or it can be broiled over flame until it is charred evenly.
Allow it to cool then peel its skin off. Drain its juice then chop it into big bits.
Next, fry the red chili, hing and dal in some oil until brown. Put everything into blender, adding the tamarind, some eggplant plus salt.
Run blender until everything is blended coarsely. Add the leftover eggplant then blend for a minute. Next, scrape everything out then serve. This serves one batch.
