Legumes In Garlic & Onions Recipe
Ingredients:
1 qt of water
2 c of pigeon peas; soak for about 20 mins.
1/2 tsp of turmeric
1/4 c of oil
A pinch of salt
1 Tbsp of mustard seeds (black)
2 tsp of cumin seeds
6 cloves of garlic; chopped
1 medium-sized onion; chopped finely
1/2 tsp of dried chilies (red)
Instructions:
After washing peas, boil together with salt and turmeric in water. Seethe oil using medium-sized pot. Then add cumin and mustard seeds, frying ’til mustards start popping.
Put in garlic and onion, frying until soft and browned. Mix chili, stirring for about 30 sec. Pour this over the peas, stirring thoroughly.
Then cover and simmer mixture for about 10 min., occasionally stirring. Serve warm with rice. This serves 6.
