Masur Dal (Lentils) Recipe

Ingredients:

1 c of dal (yellow moong or pink masur)
1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
1 small-sized onion
3.5 c of water
1 dash of salt (to taste)
1 dash of pepper (to taste)
1 inch slice of ginger
Ghee
2 garlic cloves; minced
1 tsp cumin (seeds)

Instruction:

Wash dal (lentils) well and strain. Add dal to boiling water then season with salt, turmeric, pepper, garlic and ginger (finely chopped). Cover then simmer mix for twenty minutes.

Heat oil (ghee) the stir in cumin powder til browned. Add in onions (thinly sliced). You may also add in paprika & some tomatoes (finely chopped) then pour this mixture on top of cooked dal before serving.
