Moong Dal Recipe


Moong Dal Recipe

Ingredients:
2.5 Tbsps of raisins
4 Tbsps of chopped cilantro
1/4 tsp of sugar
1/4 tsp of garam masala
2 pcs of chiles (red)
1/4 tsp of cardamom powder
1/4 c of desiccated coconut (fresh)
1&1/4 tsp of grated ginger
2 pcs of onions (yello, large); sliced thinly
2 pcs of Laurel leaves
3 Tbsps of butter (ghee)
1/4 tsp of turmeric
1&1/4 tsp of salt
1/2 c of water
1&1/4 c of moong dal (beans); toasted
Pinch of cumin (seeds)

Instructions:

Clean the moong dal beans and transfer inside a kitchen pot with water to boil. Season with salt and turmeric. Take away residue that accumulates on your water surface.

Simmer beans for half and hour. Meanwhile, saute cumin seeds, Laurel leaves, ginger, onion and chiles. Stir continuously for two minutes.

Add in your raisins and mix the coconut. Stir then add to the moong beans. Add in your cardamom, garam masala, sugar, and season with more salt as needed. Simmer twenty minutes, lid off.

Cook until mixture is thick but runny in consistency. Good for four persons.
