Murkha Dal Recipe
Ingredients:
1 tsp of salt
1&1/4 cups of milk (coconut)
4 cups of water
2 pcs of chiles (green); chopped finely
1 cup of red lentils
1 tsp of turmeric
1 Tbsp of ginger; grated
2 garlic cloves; minced
1 pc of onion; diced
2 tsps of mustard seeds (black)
1/4 cup of butter
Innstructions:
Saute seeds (mustard) in butter. Cover pan then cook a few minutes ’till you hear popping sounds. Remove cover then add your onions, ginger and garlic.
Simmer, lid on, until onions become soft & garlic has turned to golden brown in color. Add chiles and turmeric ’till the chiles become soft.
At this point mix in your lentils stirring constantly until lentils become translucent. Next add water, salt and milk (coconut). Mix well.
Let mixture boil, and then simmer forty minutes. Best served hot. Good for two persons.
